Week 16 Application

These verses illustrate how the Bible contains specific historical references to kings, territories, and military campaigns—details that archaeology has repeatedly confirmed. For instance, the banquet of King Belshazzar (Daniel 5:1) was once questioned, but archaeological discoveries of Babylonian history show that such feasts were indeed common. Joshua’s description of land boundaries matches the geography known from ancient records and excavations. Isaiah’s mention of Assyrian military actions aligns with Assyrian inscriptions and artifacts. This alignment between the biblical text and archaeological findings doesn’t prove the Bible is inspired, but it does strengthen the case that the Bible is rooted in real history, encouraging readers to trust its accounts. Recognizing this connection invites us to approach the Bible not just as a religious book, but also as a historically credible document.
