God’s goodness is not defined by Him answering our prayers in the way we think is best. His goodness is defined by His enduring love, and our faith in that love results in a relationship with Him. His goodness is seen in the fact that his covenant relationship with us endures forever.
Gladness and joy are close to happiness – is there a difference between joy and happiness? Happiness is usually temporary and based on our circumstances; the deep, sustaining joy of the Lord comes from the assurance that He is with us and will deliver us from present difficulties as well as this sinful world. This joy is based on our hope in Jesus, even in the midst of great sadness.
