Week 20 Introduction

The survival of the Jewish people is one of the most extraordinary stories in human history. While countless ancient civilizations have disappeared, the Jewish people remain—after centuries of exile, persecution, and dispersion. How can this be explained?
The Bible offers a compelling answer. Thousands of years ago, God made specific promises to Abraham and his descendants—promises about their land, their identity, and their influence on the world. God also warned through Moses that if Israel turned from Him, they would be scattered among the nations—but not forgotten. He promised to bring them back.
Unlike other displaced peoples who eventually assimilate and lose their distinct identity, the Jewish people have retained theirs. Their continued existence and return to their homeland align with the biblical record. In this way, they serve as a living signpost pointing to the faithfulness of God and the truth of Scripture.
