Week 38 Introduction

Let’s imagine this scenario: a classmate comes up to you and says, “The whole class is going to Hawaii tomorrow for a huge party!” It might sound exciting — but would you believe them? Probably not. Why? Because they don’t have the authority to make something like that happen.
But what if your teacher — someone with real decision-making power — told you the same thing? Suddenly, the idea feels more believable. You might still be surprised, but now there’s a sense of trust and expectation. Why is that? The difference is authority. When someone has both the power to act and a history of keeping their word, we find it much easier to believe them.
Now think about this in spiritual terms. What about the promises God has made — about forgiveness, eternal life, and His never-ending love? If we trust a boss or a leader because of their authority, how much more should we trust God, who has all power, knows all things, and cannot lie?
God is the ultimate authority in the universe. So when He promises something, we don’t have to wonder or fear — we can stand on it with full confidence.
