Discipleship
Our Common Thread
Every outreach of Amazima Ministries, whether education scholarship, vocational training, or medical care, is built on a biblical perspective with an emphasis on relationship and disciple-making.
Our Ultimate Goal
We know that nourishing the physical needs of the people we serve is not the ultimate goal. By being built up in love, we long to see them fed spiritually and restored into right relationship with God.
Make disciples
Our team sees every outreach as an opportunity to answer the call of Jesus to go and make disciples. The mentors working in our Scholarship Program and our Family Mentors at The Amazima School are much more than social workers. Their role on our team is to truly love and disciple the children and families that we serve.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Our Discipleship Model
As you continue reading and learning more about Amazima’s work in Uganda, we hope that you continue to see the call to discipleship in what we do and how we do it. It is our belief that the Bible defines the act of caring for others in a way that is strengthened by relationships that mirror the discipleship model of Jesus Christ, and that is only possible through Jesus Christ himself. There is much yet to do in service to our great God, and we are well pleased to serve and work in a way that encourages others toward the way, and the truth, and the life.
"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
Our prayer
Would you join us in prayer that the children and families we serve would both know Christ and make Him known? Pray that lives would be transformed, relationships would be restored, and, as a result, communities would be changed because of the gospel.
