Special Projects

Make a Lasting Impact

We are often asked about “special projects” that need funding. These are generally unique needs that make it possible to reach our community with the gospel, to operate The Amazima Primary and Secondary School, and to care for the children and families in Jinja, Uganda.

Our prayer is that you would consider joining in the work God is doing through Amazima’s ministry through these opportunities.

If you have questions about any of the projects below, please contact us

This 4-day camp in January will bring students together to encourage them in their spiritual growth and character development. This is during the long break from school. Therefore, it is an opportunity to reconnect with fellow students and mentors before the new school year begins.
Community Engagement identifies families that are the most vulnerable in our community. When needs arise, they work to help empower families however they can. In the coming year, Community Engagement will be conducting a House Improvement Program to help families with poor shelters build safe houses.
Our families have begun savings and loan groups within their communities. This brings the community together to reduce vulnerability when financial stresses occur among individual families. This would give a cash infusion to each group to allow them to grow as well as cover materials and additional training.
Groups of families have expressed interest in starting small businesses. This would provide assets and materials to start the business as well as materials and training in business management and technical support.
As households work to build sustainable income, micro-loans can make a great impact to give the capital needed to boost a potential business. This would allow our community engagement team to work alongside families with merchandise and other types of small loans in this process.
Food security is one of the largest challenges our community faces. This fund will allow us to provide temporary food support for families in particularly tough circumstances.
Our students and staff are often serving families in the community. The projects include water, sanitation and hygiene projects as well as other community driven activities. It is a time to serve and minister to the community. This would provide the materials used for these projects.
Mentoring often happens out of the school setting. Our community engagement team supports young mothers and other youth that are looking to thrive outside of school. This will allow us to support the needs of these youth.
As our agriculture training program continues to grow, we plan to setup a garden that can bring the community together to learn new methods and grow together in best agricultural practices.
Community families are learning key agriculture methods that will give greater food security in the years to come. Our Agriculture team will provide additional training and seeds with high, nutritious yields that will allow our families to put these methods in place.
Our community engagement team has an opportunity to train households about poultry production and business management. This will allow us to support the initial capital costs of this project.
During school holidays, Amazima’s Community Engagement Team plans creative, fun days with our students to deepen relationships and continue discipleship. This project will provide materials and resources for these discipleship programs that occur outside of the academic calendar.
Six students in Amazima’s program do not have adult caregivers in their lives. Our Community Engagement Team comes alongside these students to place them in a home and ensure they have all that they need, including provisions for housing, food, school supplies, and other essential care items.
We desire to set up a center on our Primary School campus that will allow students to come on the weekends to a safe, nurturing environment. This would include music sessions, games and group discussions that would lead to a stronger community and spiritual growth.
The audio system at our Primary campus is in need of an upgrade. This will allow us to get the speakers and equipment in place to continue having community and school events on our campus.
We have 15 students currently enrolled in 2-year vocational certificate programs (catering, fashion & design, plumbing, automotive mechanics, etc.). We are anticipating 16 students to be enrolled next year.
Many of our first secondary school graduates will be attending university in Fall 2025. This cost would cover tuition, boarding and other costs.
Once again, we will host all girls at The Amazima School as well as inviting hundreds from other schools in the community to attend a conference with world-renown speakers, Christ-centered worship and a powerful message of hope.
We host an annual boys conference for our Secondary students. This will involve connecting through worship, messages and ongoing workshops to follow-up the day of the conference.
We provide all Amazima students with an excellent education. This is not limited to our curriculum, but includes developing skills in our students to be successful in all aspects of their lives. Our weekly life skills program will teach students important skills like cooking, farming, entrepreneurship, media and more as they progress through secondary school. This project provides the materials necessary to equip our students through this program.
Students in their houses compete against one another throughout the year. The focus is as much on character development as it is the competition. This will provide the sports supplies and materials to make this league an annual success.
Our primary students are able to experience different opportunities throughout Uganda on field trips. This cost will allow for 3 scheduled trips next year.
Our 6 classes of Secondary students have various trips for the different subjects of their curriculum. These can take them to the capital or even in other parts of the country to get hands-on experience with what they are learning every day in the classroom.
As we assess the needs of our older primary students, we want to provide training and opportunities for multiple career pathways. This program will give hands-on experience to older students as they understand the best opportunity for them.
On December 7th, we will graduate our first Secondary School class! We are planning a ceremony to honor their time at The Amazima School. This would support the costs of the day.
We continue to grow special education at our Primary School. Next year, we will focus on assessments of students to understand their needs, occupational and speech therapy and growing awareness in the community.
As the Amazima Primary School continues to grow, we need resources that allow us to support students in their studies and cultivate a love of reading. Help provide more books and resources to ensure our teachers and library has everything it needs to best serve our students.
We have continuing needs for workbooks, library books and additional learning materials that will help our students thrive in Secondary School.
Musical instruments, costumes, and props are essential pieces that we want our primary students to have access to. This will allow us to have greater diversity in the musical instruments and equipment available to students attending the primary school.
We are growing our music program at the Secondary School! This will allow us to increase the musical instruments available for learning as well as providing the equipment for the local music & dance programs.
