Team Amazima Update

A Powerful Experience with Pepperdine Students

Our graduates recently shared in a powerful experience with a team from Pepperdine University—a journey that began on the Amazima campus and took them to northern Uganda. It wasn’t just a trip; it was a sacred invitation to step into stories of both pain and hope, and to wrestle with what it truly means to lead like Jesus.

Throughout their time together, they explored servant leadership through the lens of humility, courage, and compassion. They sat with those who have endured great injustice. They listened—deeply—to voices that are often overlooked. They walked alongside individuals and communities courageously working to bring about healing, restoration, and justice in places that have long been marked by hardship.

For our graduates, the journey was more than educational, it was transformational. It gave them new eyes to see the challenges facing their nation and new hearts to engage those challenges, not with fear or apathy, but with faith and purpose. They returned with a deeper sense of calling—recognizing that they are not too young, too inexperienced, or too limited to make a difference right where they are.

“The trip was an eye-opener to the many things that happen in our country, and I was able to realize my potential to transform my community.”
—Joseline, Amazima Graduate

This experience is just one example of how we seek to develop servant-hearted leaders who are equipped to bring lasting change to Uganda—leaders who see the world through the eyes of Christ and are bold enough to act on what they see.
