This month, you’ll be hearing about some of the ways Amazima seeks to empower families in Uganda, but we wanted to share an impactful story we heard recently from one of our families in the States. We could not do what we do without our ministry partners, like Christy. Enjoy this ministry partner spotlight where she shares the imprint it’s made on her family and the culture of giving she and her husband have created.

Thank you to all of our partners who make this life changing work possible. Your giving matters.

“How did you first get connected with Amazima?”

CHRISTY: Like many others, I started by reading Katie’s first book, Kisses from Katie.

“Why do you partner with Amazima?”

CHRISTY: After being inspired by the book and by Katie’s heart for God, I began researching all that Amazima did and how it was run. My mother was the administrator of a local nonprofit for 19 years, so I had some knowledge of how a nonprofit should be run. With that insight, and some research, I found that not only was Amazima doing great, impactful things, but it was run with integrity and a God-led purpose. When I finally had a chance to meet both Katie and the staff, it only strengthened my belief in this organization.

“How has partnering with Amazima impacted you and your family?”

CHRISTY: I feel that sharing what God is doing through Amazima with my kids has had a big impact on them. They have seen how passionate my husband and I are about this ministry and the joy it has given us in being a part of it.

My kids have since chosen to support Amazima by using their personal earnings and allowances to make donations. They talk about how even though they are kids, they can have an impact on the other side of the world in a way that helps others and pleases God. I think it has made them both more grateful for the blessings they have and has given them pride in the difference that they can make.

As my older two have become adults they have continued supporting Amazima, and other charities, showing us that this has made a lasting change in how they care about others.

I also wanted to add that my mother has now been a supporter for years as well. At our request, she has donated in our honor, bought presents for her friends through the website, and became a monthly donor. I just think it is neat that God can use us to influence both the generation below us and the one above us.

“What encouragement would you give to someone who is thinking about becoming a ministry partner?”

CHRISTY: I would encourage others to get to know Amazima and pray about how they could support this ministry. After supporting Amazima for many years, I am still thrilled by all I see that Amazima has accomplished. This could only be possible because God’s hand is involved in all they do. I truly feel I am being both a good steward of my resources and a listening disciple of the Holy Spirit when I support Amazima.

Thank you, Christy!
