Your faithful generosity allows Amazima to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of many of the most vulnerable children and families in Jinja, Uganda. Lives are transformed, relationships are restored, and communities are changed because of YOUR generosity.
Over 50% of Ugandans are under the age of 15, and most decisions for Christ are made between the ages of 4-14. That’s one more reason your partnership matters.
Your monthly gift of $30 is life-changing as it makes it possible for ONE hungry child to eat, be able to go to school in a safe environment, receive medical care, and learn about the life-changing love of Jesus.

We are often asked about “special projects” that need funding. These are generally unique needs that make it possible to reach our community with the gospel, to operate The Amazima Primary and Secondary School, and to care for the children and families in Jinja, Uganda.
If you have questions about any of the projects below, please contact us.
Please review this list of important projects that range from $500 to $35,000 in cost.
Projector and Lights – $25,000
Holiday Youth Camp – $2,000
This 3-day camp in January will bring students 15 and older together to encourage them in their spiritual growth and character development. This is during the long break from school. Therefore, it is an opportunity to re-connect with fellow students and mentors before the new school year begins.
Village Savings & Loan Start-up Costs – $1,000
Our families are beginning savings and loan groups within their communities. This will allow them to work in their community for the best solutions as needs arise. This cost would cover the materials (primarily books and record-keeping materials) for this program.
Vocational School Fees – $1,600/student
We have 6 students currently enrolled at Vision for Africa in 2-year vocational certificate programs (fashion & design, plumbing, automotive mechanics, etc.). We are anticipating 12 more students to enroll for 2024.
Teenage Girls Conference – $5,000
“There4” Conference costs. We will have all Secondary females at TAS as well as inviting females from other schools to attend a conference with world-renown speakers, Christ-centered worship and a powerful message of hope.
Teenage Boys Conference – $2,500
We will also look at a conference for boys at TAS. This will be run internally. There are not many details yet, but we will want to give this opportunity to create a life-changing conference for our young men.
Discipleship Programs During School Holidays – $2,500
During school holidays, Amazima’s Community Engagement Team plans creative, fun days with our students to deepen relationships and continue discipleship. This project will provide materials and resources for these discipleship programs that occur outside of the academic calendar.
Medical Furniture – New Health Center: $13,000
A new health center is under construction at our Secondary School. This cost will make sure that the nursing areas, counseling rooms and physiotherapy room are setup to serve our Secondary students with holistic care.
Primary School Music & Dance Supplies – $3,000
Musical instruments, costumes, and props are essential pieces that we want our primary students to have access to. This will allow us to have greater diversity in the musical instruments and equipment available to students attending the primary school.
Secondary School Music & Dance Supplies – $5,000 (only $3,000 to go!)
We are growing our music program at the Secondary School! This will allow us to increase the musical instruments available for learning as well as providing the equipment for the local music & dance programs.
Primary School PE & Extracurricular Sports Supplies – $1,000
It is so important for primary students to exercise and let their energy out during the school day. This will allow us to purchase more supplies for PE and sports at our primary school.
Primary School Art Supplies – $1,100 (only $600 to go!)
Our primary students love getting to create things! This will allow us to provide more unique opportunities for our students to create and have fun in art class.
Secondary School Art Supplies – $1,500
Art class creates an opportunity for our secondary students to creatively express themselves. As our student body continues to grow, we have a need for a larger, more diverse set of art supplies. This would include a kiln for our students growing in pottery skills.
Biology Lab Equipment Setup – $10,000
With a growing student body at our Secondary School, we need additional lab space to accommodate all of our students in their many science subjects. A new science lab will not only increase student learning through hands-on experiments, it will create more unique opportunities for discipleship and relationship building between students and their teachers. This project will cover the cost of furnishing this new lab along with the equipment needed across our life science classes.
Road at New Medical Center – $35,000
A new health center is under construction at our Secondary School. This cost will asphalt the road around the center. This will protect our students and medical equipment from dust, and it will allow transport to easily access the center in case of emergency.
Floor Repairs at Primary School – $3,400/classroom ($34,000 GOAL / 10 CLASSROOMS)
We have had issues with underground water damaging the floors in our Primary School classrooms. This project will allow us to correct the issue with the right floor for the long-term needs.
Resurfacing Basketball Courts – $12,000
Due to the continued sun and rain, we need to resurface the basketball courts at the Secondary School. This will allow students to continue programs for our students to stay active, develop important character traits, and to be discipled in a unique context.
Electrical Installation for Assembly Hall – $10,500
We have a new assembly hall at our Primary School. This project will allow us to install electricity for larger assemblies and presentations.
Secondary School Mathematics Supplies – $2,700
This project will allow the mathematics team to introduce a grid whiteboard for math instruction and provide calculators for incoming students.
Operational Equipment – $1,500
We continue to train technicians who use their skills to serve us throughout the campus. Some equipment (sanders, plumbing tools, etc.) will help them continue to grow in their ability to serve.
Staff Training – $15,500
We regularly invest in our staff to better equip them to disciple and teach the students at The Amazima Schools. This project will fund staff training for the year 2023 to ensure students get the best possible experience in our programs.
Secondary School Sports Competition Travel – $11,100
In 2022, Amazima had 6 different sports teams compete at the National level. These competitions are a great way for our student athletes to be exposed to some of the best competition in the country, and a great opportunity for them to witness to other students through the way they play and behave. This project will help cover the expenses of travel and lodging for our sports teams as they compete at the highest level.
PowerSchool Yearly Cost – $8,375
Keeping accurate records of attendance, grades, and discipline is essential for any school. At the Amazima Secondary School, we use a program called PowerSchool to track all student records. This allows administration, teacher, students, and families to stay connected to each student’s progress. This project covers the yearly cost of PowerSchool at our secondary school.
Firewood – $6,198
Much of the food preparation on our two campuses is performed with the assistance of firewood in generating the heat we need to cook. Three meals a day, feeding over 700 students requires a lot of wood! In 2023 we will begin using propane gas for some of our cooking, but for now, firewood is essential.
Fuel for Buses – $7,500-$22,500
Amazima owns three main buses that bring students to and from school from the surrounding community. These buses are also responsible for transporting students and staff to different off-campus events like field trips, sports games, and appointments. This project covers the cost of fuel for these essential buses.
Building Maintenance – $19,417
We built our classrooms, homes, and other facilities with the expectation they will last 50+ years. To keep them looking new and in outstanding condition, we continually need to perform maintenance. Your gift will provide the funding we need to complete the building maintenance on both of our campuses for an entire year.
Projector and Lights – $25,000
Amazima students gather in the chapel multiple times a week to worship and enjoy campus life together. This projector and lights will bring a brighter screen in those services.
Vehicle Maintenance (The Amazima School) – $30,438
Traveling the roads to and around Jinja can be a bone-jolting experience. If the roads are hard on your body, just imagine the impact they have on our fleet of buses, vans, cars, and motorcycles. Maintenance (and repair!) are key. Your gift will fund vehicle maintenance for our school vehicles for an entire year.
Dormitory Rainwater Harvesting: $77,505 ($72k remaining)
Dorm Collection and recycling of rainwater is so important in Uganda. This would allow us to have a rainwater collection system for all 28 dorms on our Secondary School Campus enabling us to reuse rainwater for all of our watering needs during the dry seasons.
